behind the blog

Who is behind this blog? Me, Aslican “Asli” Mete.

In 2017, I launched asliwrites with deep enthusiasm and intended for it to become a place for my short stories. Over the years, I have built myself a sweet little crowd that has made my journey as a writer incredibly moving and exciting. My platform has garnered a steadfast and devoted readership. As my journey progressed, I felt a strong pull into the world of media and culture.

In 2020, I took a significant step by creating my own print publication, naive, not only to allow myself to experiment, but also to extend the opportunity of sharing a platfrom to fellow creatives.

Additionally, I have worked on building further expertise by delving into creative strategy and content creation for a range of brands and artists, a path I embarked upon even before my graduation from the London College of Fashion (UAL) with a Diploma in Fashion Media Practice and Criticism. The focus of my educational was media creation, cultural studies, and critical practice. I’ve had the privilege to earn a great amount of knowledge in my years studying. This has helped me further my career and implement my experience and theoretical knowledge into the rebrand of asliwrites.

For years many years now, I have focused on becoming the writer and artist that I want to be. From crafting various forms of media, to writing, photography, videography, public speaking, and music, I have remained loyal to my creative pursuits and my growth.

It all began as a small hobby, a passion nurtured with unwavering dedication. Time has passed, yet I have continued to follow my heart, refusing to be confined by labels or limitations, persistently pursuing my goals.

The name has changed from asliwrites to naivethemag, in honor of my print project. And frankly, so have I. But one thing has remained the same; I still write. Oh, so passionately.
